Question: what would happen if you squeezed 16 matches in a 3.5 show? Answer: it would be a complete fucking trainwreck! Although it's still a record of most amount a matches ever in a single wrestling show. But wow, what a mess this was. First of all the 4 round, 16 man tournament was just too much. It should have been halved to a 3 round, 8 man tournament. That way more time could've been added to the better matches. Hogan and Andre 2 was a complete mess. There's just way too many pointless and awful matches that I forgot half of them about 10 minutes and I finished watching this Mania. It was awesome to finally see Savage win the big one though. I just wish Hogan would have gave him the spotlight himself rather than sharing it with him. The only reason Hogan allowed Savage to win the belt was because A) Hogan was promised a tag team run with him meaning he could still be in the main event of shows despite not being champion. And B) Hogan was promised to get the belt back at the main event of Mania 5 against Savage. Backstage politics for ya. There's a couple of good matches in the tournament. Steamboat vs Valentine and Savage vs Ted in the finals come to mind. And the tag matches were pretty entertaining. But overall this is a mostly awful Mania with way too much filler shit. But like I said, it's awesome to see Savage win!
