After the snow day turned snow week last week, it sure is hard to get up in the mornings this week 😴Can someone just let me stay bundled up, give a good yawn, and go back to sleep like this little princess??
Fascinating documentary on the remarkable designer, architect and artist Eileen Gray. One of my hero’s, I’m awestruck and fascinated by what she created and achieved in the 1920’s and 30’s in her 40’s and 50’s before fading into obscurity with some of her works being attributed to others. Many of the experimental earlier works I hadn’t seen before. I watched it on Kanopy as part of my public library online features, thanks Eileen Gray, thx Marco Orsini, thx Public Library! Also another reason to visit Ireland as there is a museum of her work #marcoorsini
Even though things have been a little quiet over here while I take a break from the shop for a bit (you can check two posts back to see why), here's a little late night motivation for all you mommas or makers or maker mommas or boss-babes of any kind who have perfected the art of multi-tasking.
It takes some doing, but man we can accomplish a lot! Even on the days when we feel like we barely managed to brush our teeth twice.
You made it another day.
You got through.
And that's something to celebrate.
What did you guys get done today? And taking a shower counts! ☺🖤
My son is cute. There are significant parts of the day when I can’t stand being around him. I have decided to stop feeling guilty for feeling that way. …
But who am i kidding—sometimes I still do feel guilty. Look at that face! And it doesn’t help that the internet’s #2 most annoying piece of advice for moms is: “Enjoy this time because you can’t get it back!!!” As though you are ruining something for having any feeling other than joy at all times. Joy police 👮♀️ is outta control. (@drrobertzeitlin is an awesome internet antidote to this btw.)
I remember getting to bedtime one day a couple of weeks ago, and just feeling like someone had screamed in my face all day. And then realizing, wait, someone _did_ scream in my face all day. Some 3-year-old. Why would I feel guilty for not enjoying that? ….
I love my kids so deeply and they are so fun, but the best way to move past some of these feelings has not been beating myself up or exhorting myself to have more patience. I’ve discovered it’s just letting myself be annoyed. It’s free! I don’t need to carve out time or money to do it. I just need to stop fixing. There is nothing wrong with me for being annoyed with getting yelled at by a 3-year-old.
PS: the number 1 most annoying piece of advice is (say it with me) “Sleep when baby sleeps.”
Today as she watched her daddy leave for work the words ‘da, go?’ exited her lips matched with a questioning look (and a flicker of those big blue eyes)! Acting and looking more and more like a little girl/toddler each day. Can’t believe it’s almost been a year! ❤️😳 #WhereDoesTheTimeGo
Tonight’s Agenda: Super Charge My Detox
Supporting the body’s lymphatic system (hi, dry brush)—and getting into a routine that includes a bit of sweat, stimulation, exfoliation, & deep detoxification – especially after my wild weekend of fun, my skin is practically begging for some TLC! WHY DRY BRUSHING & EXFOLIATION?
• Removes dead layers of skin.
• Stimulates and increases blood circulation.
• Helps release fatty deposits under your skin's surface.
• Assists the eliminative capacity of your body's organs.
• Rejuvenates your cells.
• Increases muscle tone.
• Improves skin texture and helps prevent premature ageing.
• Always shower after you dry brush to wash off the dead skin – While in the shower, I use the ultra-luxurious Beautycounter Sugar Body Scrub in Lemongrass.
• Upon exiting the shower and while the skin is still damp (this allows the product to absorb deeper into your skin), apply the Beautycounter Body Oil in Citrus Rosemary, Hydrating Body Lotion in Citrus Mimosa or Body Butter in Citrus Mimosa.
