** Throwback to high school** Cilia are the tiny hair like fibers that help facilitate movement of dirt and mucous out of the lungs and respiratory tract, thus allowing us to breathe easily and keep our lungs healthy. Smoking stunts these helpful guys. Unfortunately smoking accounts for 1 our of 5 deaths in the US. Today many people are turning to e-cigarettes or vaping with the excuse that “it’s better for you”. Many people don’t even actually know the difference between the two. Although e-cigarette’s don’t contain tobacco, tobacco is not the only cancer-causing agent in a cigarette. E-cigarette’s still contain the other novel list of dangerous toxins. In 2016 the FDA passed a regulatory rule on consumer age restriction. But still today there has been no official approval by the FDA to sell e-cigs. The fact that this ad is promoting vaping as being better for you than smoking is hilarious because neither are good for you!! It claims you’ll get better sleep (without enough hours) and feel better… Everyone knows the key to feeling good is living a healthy lifestyle and I don’t think that inhaling anything besides air/oxygen is included that idea. •
Real life ocean lessons at the aquarium today using our Arabic books from @daralhadaek. Today's lesson was all about the ways we can find information or as we adults like to call it "research" and why its important to ask questions when we want to learn more about something . We began by taking our ocean books with us to the aquarium and every time Fatima wanted to learn about a certain fish or sea creature I told her that she could use her books to identify the fish and I would assist in reading or she could ask what I called " The Ocean Experts" which was basically the people working at the aquarium. The amount of wonder and amazement that she experienced when she saw the same fish in her book right in-front her was priceless. As simple as it may seem but taking our books along with us elevated our experience because I wanted her to see firsthand the value of books and I wanted her to see them as a tool that can be used not only to tell bedtime stories. Fatima's most important discovery today is that jellyfish are made of 95% water which by know the whole neighborhood knows because she was so proud of her research findings.
