It's utterly cringey watching myself however, this is
something I have to face. Just wish some faint smile had spread over my b****y resting face during class. 😂 #iamnotupset#ilovemyjob#ilovemystudents
Sarah
Where are all my dancing queens??? Confirmed with my girls that our next accountability group will be nothing but dancing for the month of October and I could not be more excited. I've definitely seen results doing the programs I've done so far, but I'm looking forward to having some fun with this next one! So much so, in fact, that I'm throwing it back to 2009 when I spent much more time dancing like nobody was watching than I do now (aka perpetually holding at least one of my arms up, with my eyes closed, often wearing sunglasses long after the sun went down). #flashbackfriday
📚 George by Alex Gino 🕸👗🌈
"BE WHO YOU ARE. When people look at George, they think they see a boy. But she knows she's not a boy. She knows she's a girl.
George thinks she'll have to keep this a secret forever. Then her teacher announces that their class play is going to be Charlotte's Web. George really, really, REALLY wants to play Charlotte. But the teacher says she can't even try out for the part. . . because she's a boy.
With the help of her best friend, Kelly, George comes up with a plan. Not just so she can be Charlotte – but so everyone can know who she is, once and for all."
A parent recommended this novel to me last week. She said that it should be in every library in the world - the message was so important... So I bought it on the way to the hairdressers tonight and I gobbled it up in one sitting. A very sweet book about identity, gender and the labels we place on ourselves. I will be recommending this book to many of my students as I think they will love it. I like the 'Charlotte's Web' references throughout. A refreshing and thoughtful portrayal of the transgender community. 👩🏼🏫
