Rasullulah ﷺ left for Makkah due to his dream. The dreams of Prophet are always true. When the Sahâba were deeply upset and angry, one of them asked Rasulullah ﷺ, "Didn't you tell us you had a dream wherein we will make Umrah?" Rasulullah ﷺ responded by saying, "I didn't say we would perform Umrah this year." There was no fighting in Hudaybiya. In fact, Rasulullah ﷺ left Madinah in Zul-Q'adah which a month in which fighting was not allowed (pre-Islamic traditions). However, when the Muslims turned away from Makkah without performing Umrah, Allāh ﷻ revealed the entire Surah Fath (surah 48). This Surah is titled "The Absolute Victory." The Sahâba were extremely disappointed, angry and upset that they did not get to perform Umrah. In the minds of the Sahâba, this was a defeat and the entire Treaty was a defeat. However, Allāh ﷻ changed their perspective by revealing Surah Fath to inform them that this was indeed a Victory from Allāh ﷻ.
While the Sahâba were in Hudaybiya, Rasulullah ﷺ send Uthmaan رضي الله عنه to negotiate with the Quraysh in Makkah. When Uthmaan رضي الله عنه did not return for some time, news spread that Uthmaan رضي الله عنه was killed. Even though the Muslims had no intention of fighting, when they heard that Uthmaan رضي الله عنه was killed, Rasullulah ﷺ decided to take a pledge from the Sahâba to fight the Quraysh to death since they killed an innocent person. This pledge is known as Bay'atur-Ridwaan. However, as the Muslims were about to fight the Quraysh, Uthmaan رضي الله عنه came out healthy and alive. 👇🏻
