Sawtooth Coriander (Eryngium foetidum) has several other names like Thorny Coriander, Culantro, Thai or Mexican Coriander. The leafy edges of this plant are sharply serrated and look like a little saw. The flavor and smell of this plant is identical to the regular Coriander. Besides its use in flavoring cooked and raw dishes, Sawtooth Coriander has had a special place in the local healthcare traditions of South-East Asia and China. It is a sturdy plant and can grow in hot and humid conditions.
At Peik, the Sawtooth Coriander is flourishing in a nice tucked away corner right at the entrance. Make sure you take a look at it on your next visit to Peik.
