So excited that I finally signed up to do this! A friend of mine told me about park runs and I looked into it about 2 years ago. I couldn't get to the park at the time they did the runs and I was so nervous about running anyway so to just turn up and meet people just wasn't an option! I'm glad I took my time going out when I really felt it so I was under no pressures, I learned to enjoy it alone with my music. Now I feel like a actual runner, I enjoy it and I'm so happy at become one of my favorite hobbies, I don't feel nervous about joining, this is where I feel happy. Plus I need some adviceabout training for my #halfmarathon in May so I it's definitely time for me to join. Calories 🍴 Calories in vs calories out are absolute king when it comes to weight loss, weight gain & weight maintenance. Yes it really is as simple as it sounds - eat more calories a day than you burn and guess what, you gain weight. Eat fewer calories per day than you burn and, SHOCK you lose weight 😐 but what about all those fat loss pills? 🤦♂
🍚 Macronutrients 🌯 (also know as macros)
Macros are what make up calories and are your protein, carbs & fat.
1⃣g of Carbohydrates = 4⃣ calories
1⃣g of Protein = 4⃣ calories
1⃣g of Fat = 9⃣ calories
Macro counting is basically just a more in depth way of calorie counting and has some serious benefits when it comes to gym performance, recovery, hormone balance and the big one! Body composition (a fancy way of saying looking good😜)
🍎 Micronutrients 🍌
We'll keep this one simple but your fruits & veg - when you think micros, think colour on your plate. These are your vitamins and minerals and what keep your insides healthy. It's not placebo when you eat a lot of micronutrients you really do feel better for it. No calories in micros, however the foods that they are in can have plenty of calories so it's about finding that balance between the two.
⌚ Nutrient Timing ⌚
So we'll bust a few myths here - eating before bed doesn't make you gain weight, excess calories do. Would you weigh more if you ate really late and then weighed yourself first thing next to not eating 2 hours before bed...well yes however that doesn't mean you've gained body fat.
Were meal timing really plays an important role is around your workouts, having a good pre-workout meal can make a big difference when it comes to performance. After that it's just making sure you're not silly with your calories and eat them all before 2.00pm, and finding yourself starving by the time dinner comes.
