Montezuma Falls in Tasmania's west are a stunning sight. Montezuma Creek plunges 104m in a beautiful silvery horsetail before flowing through a steep ravine, over which is suspended a swinging cable bridge giving a sensational view of the falls.
It seems most likely that the name comes from the Montezuma silver mine that operated nearby, starting in 1891. However, an 1890 survey lists them as Osbourne Falls. Regardless of the name, the sight is still spectacular.
