I remember exactly a year ago...
I remember the whispering of snow melting on the bamboo trees.
I remember the cracking of the ice under my feet.
I remember holding on to the warmth of the water inside my bottle.
I remember the kindness of the young Chinese guys who stopped to help me when I had slipped
I remember the long flights of stairs that seemed to disappear in the frozen fog.
I remember the weight of my thick coat and my backpack.
I remember the absence of feelings in my fingers and my feet.
I remember the hunger when starting a day of hiking on an empty stomach.
I remember the eyes of the monkeys staring at us and yelling like they were mocking us.
I remember the fear when going through passages where heavy rocks can fall anytime and are made more silent by the snow.
I remember the emotional exhaustion, the desperation to feel like you can't do it. .
Part of me regrets deciding to climb up Emeishan during the coldest month of the year. Part of me is thankful that we got to push our limits. Would I do it again in the same position? Probably. Will I do it again in the future? Heck no. Thank you again to @turkish.life.lover, you were strong when I couldn't!
Throwback to the last time I was in LA with my Freeville fellows! @dangrossmusic and @ariellepaul let @jthomasmanley, @danatarrphotography and myself crash in their wonderful bungalow when we were getting our smog on for a spell.
As the Winter drives on in New England, I’m planning to escape to the best coast next month to share my new photography work with some creative agencies, hang with my homies and hopefully get a tan in the process.
I want to think that Dan’s backyard lighting was somehow inspired by my love of diffused and indirect lighting. I’ll see you soon, friends!
