Day 6/6: 'Hot water for wash' said Ali, our waiter, for the last time on the hike. Yes, we had a waiter, a cook, a toilet guy, two guides and 12 porters in our support team for the entire 6 days. They carried our supplies, tents, everything and anything that you might need on the mountain. 'Jambo! Did you sleep like a baby?' asked KP (our guide) in his cheerful mood, like every other morning. The energy these guys had, always cheered us up.
We left our camp after breakfast and started our way downhill. The peak was slowly getting out of sight. It was a good 7 hours hike through a rain forest which was a good change of scenery. We were lucky to catch glimpses of Black and white colobus monkeys and the blue monkeys mostly only seen on the mountain. We reached the Mweka Gate at 4pm, where we collected our certificates from the National Park and made our way back to the hotel.
It was a beautiful and an unforgettable experience as the mountain tested our physical and mental strength beyond expectations. Thank you Clifton for convincing me to do this instead of just chilling in Blore. Thank you Blessy for teaching us a new lesson on endurance! Thank you Surya for letting us relive these memories through these pictures!
And now, we wait, for a brand new adventure. :) Fin.
