Smiling and giving others permission to do the same, for no good reason, except to feel awesome. Too often I find myself embarrassed for being beautiful as well as ashamed for thinking I am. A little voice in my head cries out “But I’m smart!!!”, each time a stranger compliments me on my looks. It’s pissed me off my whole life. I’ve been uncomfortable with my appearance since I was a child. As I became a woman, I’ve felt like I can’t be sexy bc that will take away from my intelligence. I cannot pinpoint when these limiting beliefs stared to affect my self respect and self worth but now I know it’s all bullshit. Yesterday I attended my first protest. I took a stand for women’s rights. I witnessed thousands of gorgeous women owning their bodies and looking mighty proud regardless of their shape, size or color. I thought who the fuck I am to be apologizing for being female? None of these women showed up to apologize. I’m not honoring my sisters if I’m not grateful for the body and face I was born with. Now, instead of silently hating being called pretty, I will accept the kind words graciously and know I get to be both beautiful and smart. One does not take away from the other. I wish all women felt comfortable in their bodies but I truly believe this will only happen when we stop competing and start empowering! #thefutureisfemale#wombmanhood#bebeautiful#besexy#besmart#bestrong#beyourself#empowerwomen#womensrights#itsnotamomentitsamovement 🤩💪🏻👭👭👭👭👭✊🏻😘😘
The future is female… and it’s here! If we genuinely desire to change the world, shift paradigms and craft a healthy, just, sustainable future, we must actively engage, mentor, educate, respect, listen to, learn from, collaborate with and invest in the next generation, especially young women. I could not be more proud to have marched arm in arm with these two powerhouses at the #WomensMarch . I could not be more honored to watch them grow over the years, blossom beautifully and realize their immense individual and collective capacity. I could not be more overjoyed to see how their father lovingly cultivates such strength of character and generosity of spirit. I will remember this day forever — because I stood with and for Chloe, Frankie and hundreds of millions more women and girls, old and young, here and there.
PS Yes, I am ever repping Puerto Rico. 🇵🇷 #PuertoRicoSeLevanta !
Pic repost from @thegaywhostrayed what I don't understand is, what tf are all these women marching for? They have signs that say "women get out and vote" like we JUST got the right to vote within the last few years, "women vote dem" because god forbid the feminists let us choose who we want to vote for, "keep your tiny hands off my pussy" I don't recall anyone saying they wanted to fight through your thick, musty, swampy jungle with a chainsaw to get to it. "Equality for all!" Great! Let's start by treating female child molesters, killers, rapists, etc the same, then move on to other things where women usually have it easier than men. The truth is, we are equal in a lot of ways. We get paid the same for the same amount of work, experience, Job Type, etc. I'd like to also argue that some women have slept to the top, or have threatened to sue if they didn't get promoted/hired. Not all but some. I'm sure it's happened with some guys too, but they'll probably be less likely to risk it as they might be seen as a "pervert" or "scumbag" if they tried it. We can pretty much get the same jobs as guys these days, firefighter, cop, lawyer, welder, construction worker, politician, etc. No ones stopping you from that. No ones stopping you from making false accusations against a man and having it go nationwide. You can get an abortion in this country and be considered a role model when you don't want to deal with responsibility then call guys deadbeats when they don't want to deal with the same responsibility. Are you marching to somehow be "role models" with your vag hats, mostly naked or completely naked body, vulgar words on a sign (at least vulgar if a guy said/wrote it), loud chants with said words, yelling at people who disagree with you, or interrupting people, or even attacking people for no reason other than they have different viewpoints, etc? Like it or not, in this country we've got equality. We've actually got it better than men, in a way. Want to make a difference? Go March where feminism is actually needed. Go where there's actual oppression. Stop encouraging people to vote for someone strictly cause they're a woman #WomensMarch#AtLeastTheyreGettingExercise
