Tuesday Good Karma ❤
Last summer I was walking home through Acton when two tourists approached me (not something that happens very often in Acton 😉). They were from Shanghai and were returning to their Airbnb after a busy day exploring. Their Airbnb was on The Vale but they were wandering up and down, unable to see the house that they recognised. I walked with them to find it and when I couldn't see a number 56 either I started to realise something was wrong... the house wasn't there! When I asked to see the Airbnb advert it became clear that there are two roads called The Vale in London, the other is near Golders Green, six miles away! They'd come to the wrong one.
I called their Airbnb host and between us we ordered them a taxi to get back. In the meantime we were chatting about Shanghai and their time in London. I waited until they were safely in their taxi and wandered home, feeling happy to have helped but thinking nothing more would come of it.
Little did I know that the lady was so touched that I stopped to help that she phoned and messaged me to show her gratitude and a few weeks later I got another message from the Airbnb host who she'd asked to convey her thanks too.
Then, last weekend, I picked up a gift that she'd sent me through a British friend she has who lives in Shanghai most of the year. She'd sent me a bag, a beautiful framed paper cutout, a homemade xmas decoration and a bag of sweets.
Today I'm sharing the Hawthorn Hamburger sweets in the studio, sharing that good karma 😉
Just goes to show that sometimes a little bit of kindness can go a long way... ❤️
