You’re a Vince McMahon in this situation. You obviously have the money to buy each one of these but you don’t. You only have the option to purchase one of these companies, their tape library, and their contracts. Which company do you buy?
I’m buying Impact without hesitation and that’s for one thing only. Sure, you acquire some superstar contracts like Eli Drake, Alberto El Patron, Austin Aries, Sienna, Rosemary, Abyss, etc. You also acquire that time slot on Pop TV which WWE can do whatever they want with it. But the MAIN thing I’d be looking for when acquiring Impact is there tape library. Being able to obtain that library which consists of matches by current WWE wrestler like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, Goldust, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, TJP, Mickie James, Kurt Angle, Mike Kanellis, Maria Kanellis, Bobby Lashley (when and if he arrives), EC3, Eric Young, and Drew McIntyre, just to name the current guys. Then you have all the former wrestlers that wrestled in WWE. Putting these PPVs on the network would simply broaden the audience and make the WWE Network much more attractive to future buyers of the network. No one wants to see previous NJPW matches because you’re going to see some former WWE wrestlers wrestling people most casuals and some hard cores have never heard of. Plus, you don’t want to hinder everything NJPW has been doing as far as growth.
22 years ago on this date, Shawn Michaels defeated Owen Hart at In Your House 6: Rage in the Cage to get a title shot for the WWF Championship at Wrestlemania VIII against Bret Hart. Michaels went on to defeat Bret Hart in a classic 60 minute Ironman match to capture his first WWF Championship!
